Study on the inhibition and preservation of new chitosan hydrogel in Navel orange

  • The aim was to study the inhibition of chitosan hydrogel against the Penicillium italicum and preservation in‘Newhall'Navel orange.The experiment indicated that chitosan hydrogel had a certain inhibiting effect on the Penicillium italicum.In the meanwhile, the inhibiting rate was 42% and colony diameter and inhibiting zone was 15mm and 65mm after 5d cultivation, respectively.Also, it had the best quality of Navel orange after 90 days' storage when the concentration was 2.0%.The result showed that chitosan hydrogel had a clearly inhibiting effect on the Penicillium italicum and the ability to extend the freshness of navel orange, and the optimal one was 2.0%.
