Protective effects of taurine on SH-SY5Y cells injury induced by acrylamide

  • The preventive effects of taurine on acrylamide-induced cell injuries of human neuroblastoma cells(SH-SY5Y) were investigated by using cellular morphology,MTT assay and LDH assay. The results showed that the cell viabilities were decreased to 52%81% when SH-SY5 Y cells were incuvated 8 h with acrylamide of 100 700 μg/m L,which showed that acrylamide induced the cell membrane damage and LDH release outside cell membrane. The cell viability was decreased to 67.6% and LDH release rate was increased to188.5% when SH-SY5 Y cells were only incubated 8 h with acrylamide of 300 μg/m L in acrylamide injury group. However, when SH-SY5 Y cells were pre-protected 1 h with taurine of 50,100 and 200 μg/m L before incubation8 h with acrylamide of 300 μg/m L,taurine resulted in significant increases of SH-SY5 Y cell viability to 81.6%,92.7% and 89.7%,and decreases of LDH release to 150.7%,138.8% and 113.3% as compared with that in acrylamide injury group. These demonstrated that taurine could protect SH-SY5 Y cells from acrylamide-induced injury.
