Research progress in quality improvement of agricultural products induced by exogenous methyl jasmonate and its mechanism

  • As a kind of effective elicitor, methyl jasmonate (MeJA) can significantly improve the quality of agricultural products, especially in the aspects of prolonging preservation time, enhancing rotten resistance, promoting aroma quality and increasing the content of some officinal secondary metabolites.As the expansion of MeJA application fields, research of the mechanism of quality improvement has also been studied deeply.Being a kind of important substance of intracellular signal transduction system, MeJA will have effects on the physiological and biochemical process of agricultural products through regulating some gene expression, protein expression and enzyme activity that finally resulting in the improvement of its quality.This paper reviewed research progress in the application of methyl jasmonate at home and abroad in improving the quality of agricultural products and the corresponding mechanisms.
