Study on the hypolipidemic effects and antioxidative activity of porphyra peptide

  • To study the hypolipidemic effects and antioxidation of porphyra peptide, hyperlipidemic rats were induced to analyze the hypolipidemic effects and antioxidant of porphyra peptide on weights, liver coefficient, lipid index and antioxidative index in hyperlipidemic rate. Results showed that a significant reduction on weight gain in the groups with different doses of porphyra peptide. The serum TC, TG and LDL-C were decreased while HDL-C was elevated, which showed a lower AI. The activity of serum GSH-Px and SOD were higher, while MDA was lower, but liver coefficient and SOD activity remained. In conclusion, porphyra peptide had obvious effects on controlling weight gain, improved lipid index, increased antioxidase activity, inhibited of lipid peroxidation and reduced the risk of arteriosclerosis.
