Research progress in physical-chemical treatment of wastewater in food industry

  • The wastewaters of food industry are rich in organic matter, which are unfriendly to the environment.There has been a tremendous growth in physical-chemical treatment of wastewater. The physical-chemical treatments of wastewater in food industry was reviewed in this paper. The physical methods include sedimentation, proportional-plus-floating control, filtration and centrifugation. Chemical methods include neutralization process, flocculation precipitation reaction and oxidation reduction process. The physical-chemical methods include activated carbon adsorption, advanced oxidation, membrane filtration, carbon nanotubes, non-thermol quenched plasma and high gradient magnetic separation.
