Effects of different ozone treatments on postharvest physiological of melon

  • In this paper, “Xizhoumi No.17”was used as material, and the experiment was carried out at 68℃with RH80%85%.The ozone concentration was 2.14, 4.28, 6.42 mg/cm3and the interval was 12, 24, 48 h and for closed handling 40 min.The effects of different ozone treatments on the physiological of melon during the whole 42 d storage period was studied.The results showed that ozone treatment can delay the increase of conductivity, inhibit the decline of TA and VCwhose average daily decline only of 1.1and1.2%respectictively.Ozone treatment also reduced the respiration rate by 23%, postphoned respiration peak by 7 days, and its decay index was only 6.8%of the control.Ozone concentration of 4.28 mg/cm3and the interval of 24 h can best guarantee the quality and extend the low temperature storage time of melon fruit, which provides a feasible method for the storage, transportation and preservation of melon.
