Advance in RPA detection technologies of foodborne pathogenic bacteria

  • Food-borne pathogens are an important risk of food safety and thus the development of rapid and effective detection technology aimed at food-borne pathogens is imminent.Among many detection methods for foodborne pathogens, recombinase polymerase amplification(RPA) has been to some extent applied due to many advantages such as faster, simpler, more sensitive and practical compared to traditional molecular and immunological detection techniques such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR),real-time quantitative PCR, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). In this review, the principle of RPA technology and its derivative technologies including direct recombinase polymerase amplification(Direct-RPA),RPA-lateral flow dipstick(RPA-LFD), RPA-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (RPA-ELISA), real-time recombinase polymerase amplification(Real-time RPA) and RPA microfluidic were briefly reviewed.
