Research Progress on High Value-added Utilization of Procambarus Clarkii Shells

  • Recently,tens of tons procambarus clarkiis are consumed in Chinese catering every year. However,only small part of procambarus clarkiis is edible,and large amounts of procambarus clarkiis’ shells are discarded directly after the individual consumption,wasting resources and polluting the environment. The appropriate processes convert the shell of procambarus clarkiis profitable since it contains varieties of nutriments,but also it maximizes the economic benefits of the procambarus clarkiis and reduces environmental pollution. At present,the shell of procambarus clarkiis are used for extracting the chitin and animal feed. In this review,the research on the development and utilization of the procambarus clarkiis shells is reviewed,and the problems in the development and utilization of shrimp shells are summarized,the development direction of industrial production of shrimp shells in China was pointed out.
